NEW YORK CITY - The University of Pennsylvania men's soccer team tied Columbia, 0-0, Saturday night at the CU Soccer Stadium.

Penn's best chances in Saturday's match came in the extra sessions. With just one minute left in the first one, Alex Murphy fired a shot that rang off the post and out of harm's way. In the second extra period, a hard Columbia tackle in the box left the referee awarding the Quakers a penalty kick. However, Austin Kinn's shot was saved by Kyle Jackson

Penn (4-6-1, 1-0-1 Ivy League) held the play for most of the game, outshooting the Lions 19-11 and forcing Jackson to make six saves. Columbia moved to 5-2-2 overall, 0-0-2 in Ivy play.

In the Quaker goal, Tyler Kinn had four saves to earn the shutout -- his third of the season and first career Ivy League clean sheet. After a stretch of six consecutive losses, Penn has gone three matches without a loss, and has yet to give up a goal in Ivy League play this season.

The Red and Blue sit in a tie for second place in the Ivy League after two weeks of conference play with their 1-0-1 record. The Quakers are joined by Princeton at four points in the League, slated behind table-leading Yale, which is 2-0-0.

Penn returns to action next Saturday, hosting Dartmouth at Rhodes Field at 7:30 p.m. That match will be the second half of a doubleheader, as the Penn women will host the Big Green at 5 p.m.
