PRINCETON, N.J. - The University of Pennsylvania women's rowing team had a good day Sunday at the College Small Boat Challenge, hosted for the first time on Mercer Lake. Trials were done Saturday afternoon, with the finals on Sunday morning.

In the six-boat double sculls A final, Veronica Jones and Jenna Hebert took second place after covering the 2,000-meter course in 7:38.67, behind only Princeton (7:35.67). In the C final, also six boats, Penn's B boat of Maggie Dwyer and Maria Georgiou were second in 8:02.76, behind  Boston University's A boat (7:54.76). In the D final, the Quakers' C boat of Holly Stevens and Kelin Baldridge were second out of seven boats in 8:32.08, behind Villanova (8:28.95).

In the uncoxed pairs, Penn's A boat of Megan Fitzgerald and Emily Redfield was second out of six boats in 8:04.79; that was behind only Syracuse (8:02.60). In the D final, Nicola Barnes and Natalie Reynolds were fourth in 8:30.75, while in the E final Elizabeth Picciani and Becky Baumher were second in 8:32.08.

Shannon Macika competed in the single sculls, and finished fourth in the D final in 9:18.80.

Penn will close out the fall portion of its 2013-14 season with the University of Virginia's Rivanna Romp on Sunday, Nov. 17.
