PHILADLEPHIA - A pair of student-athletes were honored by the Sports Performance staff as Performers of the Month for November.
Junior Katherine Cook was chosen as the female Performer of the Month for her efforts in the weight room this fall as the Penn field hockey team posted its best season since 1988 with 13 wins and a second-place finish in the Ivy League. Cook appeared in three games for the Quakers this season -- each a Penn win.
Junior Marcus LaRoche, a thrower on the men's track and field team increased his personal best in the deadlift from 520 pounds to 605 pounds from last year to this year, and his efforts paid off in a new personal best in the shot put this past weekend at the Fast Times Before Finals event at Lehigh. He finished second at the event with a throw of 16.06m (52-08.25ft.)
