PHILADELPHIA - University of Pennsylvania senior midfielder Zack Losco was picked by the Charlotte Hounds at the 14th annual Major League Lacrosse (MLL) Draft that was held Friday, Jan. 10 in Philadelphia as part of the US Lacrosse National Convention.
The 47th pick overall, Losco was the only Quakers player among the 64 undergrads who were drafted. (In all, seven players from Ivy League institutions were drafted.) Losco will be added to the Hounds' Collegiate Inactive Roster, and can be activated once his 2014 season at Penn is complete.
Losco was a first-team All-Ivy midfielder a year ago, the first Penn middie to be so honored since 1994. Scoring in all but one game last season -- including hat tricks against Denver, Villanova and Bellarmine -- he led the Quakers with 23 goals and was second on the team with 29 points. A tremendous two-way player, Losco also was third on the team in ground balls (31) and fourth in caused turnovers (11).
Losco was one of three Penn players to receive 2014 Preseason All-America honorable mention from Inside Lacrosse, along with fellow seniors Brian Feeney and Maxx Meyer. The Quakers open up their 2014 campaign on Friday, Feb. 21 at defending NCAA champion Duke; their first home game will come four days later, when they host Saint Joseph's at Franklin Field.
