PHILADELPHIA – The third-ranked University of Pennsylvania women’s squash team travels to upstate New York to take on No. 6 Cornell, Friday at 5 p.m in the Belkin Squash Courts.

Penn (8-2, 4-1 Ivy) is coming off three-straight Ivy victories over No. 4 Princeton, No. 5 Yale and No. 10 Brown, and is looking to extend its streak.

The Quakers have been led by freshman Anaka Alankamony, playing in the No. 1 position, and winner of the CSA Player of the Week for Feb. 2. Alankamony defeated Princeton’s Maria Elena Ubina, 3-1 and won the deciding match against Yale’s Millie Tomlinson in five games.

Adding to the brilliant play of Alankamony has been the continued lead-by-example approach of co-captains Courtney Jones and Chloe Blacker. The senior duo has a combined 15-2 record, with Blacker going an undefeated 7-0.

Not to be overlooked for Penn are the contributions of freshman Michelle Wong (8-1) and sophomore Haidi Lala (8-2) who have been consistently producing for the Quakers the entire season.

Penn will be facing sixth-ranked Cornell (7-3, 3-2 Ivy) who is coming off a 7-2 Ivy win against No. 8 Dartmouth this past Sunday. The Quakers have historically held the advantage over the Big Red, leading the overall series between the two schools, 32-2.
