PHILADELPHIA – On the third and final day of the College Squash Association (CSA) individual championships, the University of Pennsylvania men’s squash team had one member remaining in play in the Molloy Cup division (players ranked #33-80) consolation round.
Penn freshman George Lemmon had advanced to the second-round consolation semifinals prior to the start of the day on Sunday and won his semifinal match in three games 12-10, 13-11, 11-8 in the morning to advance to the final.
Lemmon faced a familiar foe in the final, Trinity, Conn. freshman Affeeq Ismail. The two had met in Penn’s 9-0 loss to No. 1 Trinity in the regular season, with Ismail defeating Lemmon, 3-1.
In the consolation final Ismail jumped out to a 1-0 lead over Lemmon, with an 11-8 win in the first game, then went on to win the match after posting scores of 11-6 and 11-2.
Lemmon finished the CSA individual championships with three wins and two losses and as runner-up in the second-round consolation bracket.
