PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team sent its Class of 2014 seniors out in victorious fashion in their last home meet, as the Quakers defeated Southern Connecticut State, 191.175-189.375, Saturday afternoon in Rockwell Gym located inside Hutchinson Gymnasium.
Penn started off on vault with a 47.975 team score, the second-highest of the year for the Quakers. Junior Wynne Levy led the Red and Blue, and overall, with a 9.725. The score marks a personal and team best for this season.
On floor, Penn recorded a 48.625, its second-highest score of the season on the event. The Quakers were led by Rachel Graham (9.800), Carissa Lim and Amber Woo (9.725), and senior Nicki Valenti (9.700) in the event. With her 9.800 mark, Graham tied for top honors on floor for the afternoon.
In their last home meet, Moock competed for Penn on bars, beam, and in an exhibition on floor. Valenti competed on floor and in an exhibition on beam, while Mia Madlambayan performed exhibitions on bars, beam, and floor.
Penn competed one all-around, the junior Woo. She completed the day with 38.550, the best all-around score for the Quakers this season.
With the victory, the Quakers conclude their regular season and look towards the ECAC Championships on March 22 in Philadelphia. Penn is defending back-to-back champions, and will look for a third-straight championship.
