PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women’s rowing team opens the spring portion of its 2013-14 schedule this Saturday, hosting Saint Joseph’s and George Washington on the Schuylkill River.
“We are really excited to get back on the water and put all our practice to the test,” said head coach Mike Lane. “The weather this year has been insane, which has made getting out and racing even more exciting. The energy on spring break and at practice daily has very impressive, and it is time to put all that to the test against two well-coached, quality programs.”
As it is the Quakers’ only home race this season, the team will also observe “Senior Day” festivities following the races at the boathouse. Races are slated to start at noon, with Senior Day activities slated for approximately 2 p.m.
“Senior Day is always a very special, yet sad day for me,” said Lane. “It starts the process of closing another chapter of PWC. That being said, we still have two months together to accomplish something very special. This class is a great one, and I am very excited to watch them lead us to big things this spring.”
