The Red and Blue have struggled all season with winning the doubles point, but they didn’t let it kill their momentum and determination to win.
Junior Jeremy Court tied the overall score up at one after defeating Bear Brandon Burke at the No. 2 spot (7-6, 6-2). Penn extended the lead to 3-1 with wins at the No. 3 and 4 spots.
Freshman Matt Nardella won his 11th singles match this spring with his victory over Brown’s Gregory Garcia by identical set scores (6-4, 6-4). Senior co-captain Zach Katz was the third Quaker to win a single match after he defeated Bear Sam Fife, also by identical set scores (7-5, 7-5).
Brown came within one with a win at the No. 6 spot by Bear Lucas Da Silveira over Austin Kaplan (6-2, 7-6).
Sophomore Vim De Alwis sealed the deal for the Red and Blue at the No. 1 spot with a three set win over Brown’s Justin To 2-6, 6-1, 6-4.
Penn will be back action and in the hunt for their third Ivy win when the Quakers host Yale on Sunday afternoon at the Hamlin Tennis Courts at 1 p.m.
