PHILADELPHIA - A tough task awaits the University of Pennsylvania lightweights, who will face the top two ranked teams in the nation on Saturday. The No.9 Quakers battle No. 1 Yale and No. 2 Columbia for the rights to the Dodge Cup on the Derby River.

Penn moved up one spot in the national rankings, while the Bulldogs and Lions were seperated by a single point for the top spot in the USRowing poll. This is the 55th Dodge Cup between these three schools. Yale has won 10 straight and leads with 35 overall wins. Penn is second with 15 victories, while Columbia has won four times. The Quakers last claimed the Dodge Cup in 1992 with a victory on the Schuylkill River.

Last year the trio of schools competed for the Dodge Cup on the Schuylkill River. The Penn freshman boat came out on top, but the Quakers varsity finished third. The Bulldogs retained the cup with a time of 5:30.5. Columbia and Penn each fell slightly behind Yale and were in a battle for second-place. Columbia eventually held off the Quakers with a finish of 5:36.4, while Penn came across at 5:39.9.

A full recap of the Dodge Cup races can be found at PennAthletics.com following the conclusion of the day's events.
