PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Seven individuals from the University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team competed in the USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championship over the weekend at Brown University.

Senior Nicki Valenti, juniors Wynne Levy and Amber Woo, sophomores Amber Hu and Emily Paterson, and freshmen Rachel Graham and Kelly Tan, all competed this weekend during the three-day event.

Graham led the Quakers individual performances, with a 9.750 floor routine, earning her USAG Second-team All-American honors for floor. The Albuquerque, N.M. native also competed on vault, recording a 9.650, a season and career-high.

Woo had qualified in three events for Penn, compiling a 9.650 on vault, matching her season-high, while also scoring a 9.625 on bars, and 9.500 on beam.  Tan competed on the bars and beam, scoring a season and career-high 9.675 on bars, and a 9.525 on beam.

As a senior and competing for the last time in her collegiate career, Valenti put together a very good floor routine, earning a 9.675 score, in a tightly judged event.

Rounding out Penn’s seven individual competitors were Paterson, who earned a 9.550 competing on vault, Hu with a 9.500 on beam, and Levy with a 8.975 on vault.

The Quakers qualified 10 individuals to the competition, with three gymnasts, senior Diana Moock, junior Makeda Constable, and sophomore Carissa Lim, not competing.

Penn had 10 individuals recognized at a Thursday night banquet being named USA Gymnastics Scholar Athletes. To be recognized, individuals must be a sophomore, junior, or senior, holding a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or higher. The gymnasts from Penn recognized were: Sara Allan, Makeda Constable, Amber Hu, Wynne Levy, Carissa Lim, Diana Moock, Elyse Shenberger, Jennifer Silver, Morgan Venuti, and Amber Woo.
