Men's Golf Takes Sixth at Navy Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The University of Pennsylvania men's golf team shot 298 on Saturday, one of just four teams in the 17-team field to break 300, and improved its team standing to sixth place to conclude the Navy Spring Invitational.

Three different players shot 74 on Saturday to lead the Quakers: Dane Walton, Ben Cooley and Austin Powell. Walton ended the tournament tied for 11th out of 89 golfers with a two-round 147, while Cooley tied for 17th (149) and Powell -- who improved seven strokes from Friday to Saturday -- tied for 48th (155). Tomas Agrest carded a 78 on Saturday and ended the tournament tied for 43rd at 154, while P.J. Collier scored for the Quakers with a second-round 76. He ended the tourney tied for 58th overall (157).

Towson swept the awards on Saturday; the Tigers shot 288 as a team to finish at 584 which was eight shots ahead of second-place Navy. Individually, Joe Gunerman carded a 69 to push him past Michael Shine (Siena) and TJ McNulty (Saint Joseph's). Gunerman's 3-under-par 139 was two shots ahead of the duo.

Penn now looks ahead to the Ivy League Championships, which will take place this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the famed Baltusrol in Springfield, N.J.
