PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women’s rowing team is ready for the Ivy League Championships, which will be run for the third straight year on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J.
Penn will put out a full complement of boats, with four eights and a trio of fours competing on Sunday. Morning heats will run from 8:30-9:50 a.m., with the finals beginning at 2 p.m. and ending at approximately 4:30 p.m.
“This is what we have been building to all year,” said head coach Mike Lane. “It is always really fun to watch the boats come together for our final push. I feel really good about where we are as a team, and I can’t wait to watch our kids get out and compete this Sunday!
“We have had some good stuff, as well some stuff to work on,” he continued. “However everything seems to be coming together well as we focus all our energy on going after an Ivy League medal.”
The Penn women will have more than just their own results in mind when they take to the water on Sunday.
“This weekend is dedicated to Alix Roberts, Class of 2013," said Lane. "She is battling cancer right now, and we are going out in her honor and fighting for her. We will be wearing lime green socks for lymphoma awareness.”
