PHILADELPHIA – University of Pennsylvania women’s soccer goalie Kalijah Terilli has been called to the United States Under-23 national team for its camp from June 7-14. Terilli was one of four goalies named to the 26-player camp, which will take place at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif.

This is the second training camp of the year for the U.S. Under-23 team, which is coached by University of Virginia head coach Steve Swanson.

“I am really excited for Kalijah,” said Penn’s head coach, Darren Ambrose. “It is a tremendous honor for her and an opportunity she is looking forward to. Kalijah is one of the most athletic goalkeepers in the country, and has the potential to make soccer a career beyond Penn if she chooses. Her performances this fall were noted by a lot of people. She has incredible potential, and this is a fantastic next step for her.”

After missing the 2012 season due to injury, Terilli eventually stepped into the role of No. 1 keeper as a sophomore last fall. She played in 15 of Penn’s 17 matches, making 14 starts including all seven Ivy League matches. Terilli finished the campaign with a 0.47 save goals-against average and an .829 save percentage, and at the end of the season she was named first-team All-Ivy by the Ancient Eight coaches.

As a team, Penn went 12-1-4 overall -- setting a program record for fewest losses in a season -- and finished in second place in the Ivy League at 5-1-1. Defensively, the Quakers allowed just eight goals all season, and finished fourth nationally in shutout percentage with 12 clean sheets. In addition to Terilli, the Red and Blue return 14 other letterwinners this fall including fellow first-team All-Ivy classmates Caroline Dwyer and Erin Mikolai.
