PHILADELPHIA - The College Swimming Coaches Association of American (CSCAA) announced its 2013-14 individual Scholar All-America Awards, and the University of Pennsylvania men’s swim team had four members who received Honorable Mention recognition.

In order to receive CSCAA Honorable Mention Scholar All-America, a swimmer or diver must have achieved a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher for the semester, or cumulative average, and achieved an NCAA “B” time standard but did not compete at the NCAA Championships. Last week, the Penn men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams were both recognized with the CSCAA Scholar All-America Team Award.

Individually, the Penn men were represented by recent graduate Rhoads Worster, rising junior Brendan Crystal, and rising sophomores Cole Hurwitz and Wes Thomas.

Under veteran head coach Mike Schnur, the Penn men enjoyed a stellar season in 2013-14, highlighted by a third-place finish at the Ivy League Championships which was the Quakers’ best finish since 1972.
