PHILADELPHIA - Senior linebacker Dan Davis was named a third-team preseason All-American by The Sports Network on Tuesday.
Davis, who was named one of four 2014 team captains at the end of the spring season, is a two-time All-Ivy first-team pick and was named to the CFPA Linebacker Award Watch List for the second consecutive year. The Norman, Okla., native led the Quakers with a career-high 64 tackles last season, including a team-best 10.5 for loss and 1.5 sacks.
Five other Ivy League players made the list, including two from Harvard and one each from Yale, Princeton and Brown. Fordham, which hosts the Quakers on Oct. 11, tied for the most selections with five preseason All-Americans.
Davis and the Quakers will continue their quest for a league record-tying 17th Ivy title with preseason practice in August and the season opener at Jacksonville on Sept. 20.
