PHILADELPHIA - Just a few months ago, the University of Pennsylvania football team hoisted the
Ivy League's championship trophy after they capped off a second straight unbeaten Ivy season at Cornell's Schoellkopf Field. The two-time defending Ivy League champions will begin their title defense with their first official spring practice on March 15. The 2011 Spring Game is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 9.
During a 26-day period, the Quakers will practice 11 times. The team's spring session culminates when Red takes on Blue at the annual Spring Game. Multiple rain dates have been established to ensure Penn gets in all 11 practices. The Spring Game rain date is scheduled for Sunday, April 10. A full practice schedule is below.
Penn finished the 2010 season on an eight-game winning streak, finishing undefeated in the Ivy League for a record eighth time and claiming the program's 15th Ivy title.
Also during the spring, Penn will once again join in the "Be the
Match" program as part of the
National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) registry. The Quakers set a team record last year by recruiting more than 350 donors. Every member of the football team is involved in the initiative and they will be looking to add new donors this year on Friday, April 8.
