PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania will officially unveil the statue of Chuck Bednarik during halftime of its football game with Cornell this Saturday, Nov. 19. The Quakers and Big Red will kick off at 1 p.m. on Franklin Field.
Former Eagles coach Dick Vermeil will introduce Bednarik during the ceremony, which will take place on the field. Tommy McDonald, Pete Retzlaff, Maxie Baughan, Eddie Khayat and Irv Cross are among Bednarik's Eagles teammates who are scheduled to be in attendance, and several of his Penn teammates are also slated to be there.
The Bednarik statue will eventually reside inside Franklin Field, inside Gate 2 along with a mural highlighting the Philadelphia Eagles time playing at Franklin Field (1958-70).
