PHILADELPHIA - Senior Julia Swanson turned in one of the most impressive performances of her career this weekend and was rewarded by being named the Ivy Player of the Week by the league office on Tuesday.
Swanson's career night came on Friday against Columbia as she went off for a career-high 30 digs, 26 kills and six block assists in a five-set victory over the Lions. The 26 kills and six blocks assists were each one short of a career high. One nightlater against Cornell, she totaled 18 digs in a three-set win and also added eight kills and two block assists.
For the weekend Swanson averaged 6.0 digs, 4.25 kills and 1.00 blocks pet set in leading the Quakers to their 2-0 record. Against the Lions, she also became the third player in school history with over 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs.
The Red and Blue return to action on Friday when the team travels to Boston to take on Harvard at 7 p.m.
