PHILADELPHIA - The Ivy League and the Philadelphia Big 5 have announced their weekly award winners for February 21, and Penn senior guard Tyler Bernardini has been named Player of the Week by both outlets. He is the outright recipient in the Big 5, and shares the Ivy's POTW award with Brown's Peter Sullivan. These are Bernardini's first weekly awards of 2010-11.

Bernardini enjoyed a stellar weekend, leading the Quakers in scoring twice as they swept Brown and Yale on the road. It was Penn's first Ivy League road sweep in two years. On Friday night, Bernardini scored a game-high 26 points and shot 6-of-8 from three-point land. It was the best shooting performance outside the arc in the Jerome Allen coaching era, and his six treys matched a Penn player high in the Allen era.

On Saturday night at Yale, Bernardini again led the Quakers with 16 points. That included his 1,000th point at Penn, which came on a three-point shot early in the game. Bernardini became the 37th player in Penn history to reach the milestone, and the third this season (he joins Jack Eggleston and Zack Rosen on the list). Bernardini enters this weekend's play with 1,010 career points.

Bernardini was the Ivy League and Big 5 Rookie of the Year in 2007-08, and led Penn in scoring in 2008-09. He missed almost the entire season last year after injuring his foot in the Quakers' second game. This season, after a relatively slow start out of the gate, Bernardini is averaging 16.7 ppg over Penn's last 14 contests.

Penn is in action twice this weekend, hosting Columbia Friday night and Cornell on Saturday night. Both games will tip off at 7 p.m. Friday night's game against the Lions will be televised live on the Comcast Network, while Saturday's game against the Big Red can be heard nationwide on Sirius Satellite Radio Channel 130.
