PHILADELPHIA - The Ivy League has announced its All-Ivy teams in men’s basketball, and the University of Pennsylvania was represented by two players. Junior guard Miles Cartwright was one of six players to earn second-team selection by the Ancient Eight coaches, while freshman guard Tony Hicks received honorable mention recognition.

Princeton’s senior forward Ian Hummer was the coaches’ selection as the Ivy League Player of the Year, while Harvard freshman guard Siyani Chambers was a unanimous selection as the Ivy League Rookie of the Year. Those two also received first-team All-Ivy along with Harvard’s Wesley Saunders (who joined Hummer as the only unanimous selections), Brown’s Sean McGonagill, and Cornell’s Shonn Miller.

Cartwright finished the year averaging 13.5 points per game, good for fifth among Ivy players, and in conference play he averaged 12.9 ppg which was seventh. Cartwright also was second among Ivy players in assists per game in Ivy play (4.1) and sixth in free-throw percentage (.840).

Cartwright was joined on the second team by Brown’s Matthew Sullivan, Columbia’s Brian Barbour, Dartmouth’s Gabas Maldunas, Princeton’s T.J. Bray, and Yale’s Austin Morgan.

Hicks ended the season averaging 10.4 points per game overall, a number that jumped to 15.3 ppg in Ivy play which was third. The freshman, who had more than 20 points in four of the Quakers’ last seven games, also finished sixth among Ivy players in three-point field-goal percentage in Ivy play (.429) and eighth in free-throw percentage (.824).

The other players who joined Hicks in receiving honorable mention recognition were Cornell’s Errick Peck, Harvard’s Steve Moundou-Missi and Laurent Rivard, and Princeton’s Denton Koon.
