PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania men's and women's basketball programs will hold their annual Red and Blue scrimmages on Saturday, Oct. 26, prior to the football game against Yale. The intrasquad scrimmages are open to the public.
The women will tip things off at 10 a.m., followed by the men at approximately 11:30 a.m. The Penn-Yale football game kicks off at 1 p.m.
Both teams will open their regular seasons on Saturday, Nov. 9 with the women hosting St. Francis Brooklyn at 2 p.m. and the men hosting Temple in a Big 5 game at 5 p.m.
Under fifth-year head coach Mike McLaughlin, the Quaker women return nine letterwinners (including all five starters) from last year's team that finished with 18 wins and advanced to the WBI semifinal round, winning the program's first postseason games in the process. The team also includes five newcomers.
The men, meanwhile, return everyone from last year's squad. The John R. Rockwell Head Coach of Men's Basketball, Jerome Allen, has added five newcomers to the squad, as well.
