PHILADELPHIA - Freshman Sydney Stipanovich scored a career-high 17 points in just 22 minutes to help guide the University of Pennsylvania women's basketball team to its fourth straight victory last week. On Monday, she was honored for her efforts as the Ivy League Rookie of the Week.

Stipanovich was just three rebounds shy of a double-double in the 67-57 win over Army. More importantly, Stipanovich had 15 of her 17 points in the second half of the come-from-behind victory. The St. Louis, Mo., native also had two blocks and an assist in Penn's fourth straight win. She was 6-of-11 (54.5%) from the field and 5-of-6 (83.3%) from the free throw line. With Penn trailing with under five minutes to play, Stipanovich had six key points down the stretch and made all four of her free throws to propel Penn to another win.

This is the first career weekly Ivy award for Stipanovich and the second straight week a Quaker has been honored by the league office. Senior captain Alyssa Baron was the Co-Ivy League Player of the Week on Dec. 9 when she averaged 18.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.7 assists in three wins for Penn. Stipanovich is the first Penn player to earn the Ivy Rookie of the Week award since Keiera Ray on Feb. 18, 2013.

Leading into the City Six matchup with Drexel on Saturday, Dec. 21, Penn will has its Finals week. Then the Battle for 33rd Street tips off at 2 p.m. at The Palestra and can be seen on the Penn Sports Network.
