PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team defeated Drexel in double overtime, 1-0, on Friday night at Penn Park.

Kerry Scalora had the winner with 2:35 left in the second extra session, knocking home a free kick from outside the box that found the upper right corner. Drexel goalkeeper Eve Badana never had a chance. It was Scalora's second goal this season.

The first half was a fairly mundane affair, as the teams combined for just three shots (two by Drexel, one by Penn). However, the action picked up considerably in the second half as the Quakers outshot the Dragons, 9-4. Penn almost got what would have been the leading goal When Scalora fired a shot from outside the box that looked like it would beat Badana. However, a Dragon defender was perfectly placed and parried the ball wide with her foot.

Brianna Rano and Erin Mikolai also had chances in the second stanza, and Elissa Berdini was a constant threat along with Kathryn Barth. However, no goals were scored and the teams went to overtime.

It was Penn's turn to clear one off the line in the first extra session, as Jazmyne Simmons was in the right place at the right time to deny a Drexel shot just three minutes in.

Penn ended up outshooting Drexel in the match, 15-11, and forced Badana to make six saves along with the one team stop. At the other end, Kalijah Terilli went the distance and had two saves to collect the Quakers' third shutout in as many matches so far this season.

Penn returns to action on Sunday, traveling to Saint Joseph's to kick off with the Hawks at 1 p.m.
