PHILADELPHIA - The College Sports Information Directors of America have named the Capital One Academic All-District teams in the sport of women's soccer, and University of Pennsylvania seniors Kathryn Barth and Claire Walker have been named to the District II team at the NCAA Division I level. With the recognition, they are now eligible for Capital One Academic All-America honors which will be voted on in November.

District II consists of all the colleges and universities in the states of Pennsylvania, Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia. In order to be eligible for CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District and All-America, an athlete must be in at least her second year at her current institution and hold a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30. The awards are voted on by CoSIDA members.

A former second-team All-Ivy and second-team NSCAA All-Region selection, Barth has a goal and two assists for four points this season. Walker, meanwhile, has been a mainstay on a Penn defense that has posted 11 shutouts in 15 matches this season and boasts one of the lowest goals-against averages in the country.

Barth and Walker are the just the fifth and sixth players in program history to earn Academic All-District recognition from CoSIDA, and the first since Adrienne Lerner in 2011. This is the first time Penn has had two women earn Academic All-District in the same season.

Penn is 10-1-4 overall this season, with two Ivy League matches still left on the regular-season schedule. The first comes this Saturday, when the Quakers are at Brown and kick off with the Bears at 7 p.m. Both teams are 3-1-1 in conference play and tied for second place behind 5-0-0 Harvard.
