PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania women’s soccer program’s head coach, Darren Ambrose, has announced his incoming class. Seven women from the University's Class of 2017 will join the program in August for preseason practices.

“I am really looking forward to working with this group of women,” said Ambrose, who will enter his 14th season at the helm in August. “They are a very athletic bunch who will impact our program from the start. They all have a good pedigree in club soccer, and we know they will represent our program at the highest standard. They are outstanding people who will add character and personality to both our program and the University.”

Penn finished the 2012 season with a 9-6-1 record, and for the third year in a row the Quakers entered their final match with a chance of winning at least a share of the Ivy League title. This year, the women lost to Princeton in that final match, 4-2, and ended up third in the league at 5-2-0. In the last three seasons, Penn has gone a combined 14-4-3 in Ivy play.

Fifteen letterwinners return for this coming fall. The captains for the 2013 season are seniors Brianna Rano, Kerry Scalora and Claire Walker.
