BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Penn women's soccer team continued its record-setting ways on Wednesday night, defeating Lehigh 3-0 at the Mountain Hawks' Ulrich Sports Complex.
The win was Penn's eighth in a row, a school mark, and its sixth shutout in a row which is one shy of the school record set at the start of the 1998 season. Now 13-2-0 overall, the Red and Blue have shut out 12 opponents this season, which is also a school record. Lehigh fell to 6-9-0 overall.
Kathryn Barth got the Quakers on the board in just the eighth minute. She was sprung on goal by senior Theresa Yankovich and beat Lehigh goalkeeper Ali Griffin. It marked the fifth straight game that Barth has scored at least a goal.
Marin McDermott doubled Penn's lead in the 26th minute. This time the goal was set up by Barth, who sent a cross in front that McDermott was able to get a quick touch on and push into the net. In the last six games, Barth has six goals and six assists.
Penn will finish the regular season with two Ivy League matches, starting Saturday at Brown with a 4 p.m. kickoff.
