PHILADELPHIA - The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) have announced their Capital One Academic All-District teams in the sport of women's soccer, and Penn senior defender Adrienne Lerner was named to the first team in District 2 at the NCAA Division I level. With that honor, she now goes on the national ballot for Academic All-America.

This is Lerner's first CoSIDA honor, and she is just the fourth player in program history to be recognized by the organization as Academic All-District. The other honorees were Katy Cross (2002-04), Natalie Capuano (2008), and Sarah Friedman (2010).

The senior captain was one of the main reasons the Quakers enjoyed an historical season. Anchoring the back line, she helped Penn post a school-record 13 shutouts and win 14 games which tied a program mark. Penn finished second in the Ivy League at 5-1-1, and allowed just seven goals all season which was also a program record. Penn ended the regular season on a 10-match win streak (9-0-1) and allowed just one goal in its final nine matches.

Lerner is a classical studies major and political science minor in the College of Arts and Sciences.

The Capital One Academic All-America Women's Soccer Teams is scheduled to be announced on December 1.
