Lopez-Palm Named Ivy League Player of the Week

PHILADELPHIA - The Ivy League has announced its weekly awards in women's soccer, and Penn senior forward Ursula Lopez-Palm has been named the Ivy League Player of the Week.

This is Lopez-Palm's first Ivy League weekly honor, and the third by a Penn player this season (Marin McDermott and Kathryn Barth have previously been honored). It comes on the heels of her two-goal performance against Princeton Saturday night, which propelled the Quakers to a 3-1 win over their archrival. The goals were Lopez-Palm's second and third this season, and they came in her final home game wearing the Red and Blue.

As a team, Penn finished 14-2-1 overall, tying a program record for wins in a season. The Quakers -- who finished the regular season with a 10-match unbeaten streak (9-0-1) -- went 5-1-1 in Ivy League play, finishing second in the conference standings to Harvard (6-0-1).

Penn is still in the running for an at-large bid into the NCAA Championship field, but will not find out its fate until this evening when the selections are announced. The NCAAs begin this weekend.
