PHILADELPHIA - The ECAC has announced its 2011 All-Star Teams in the sport of women's soccer, and Penn senior defender Adrienne Lerner was recognized with second-team honors. Lerner is the third Penn player to receive an ECAC honor since the ECAC began the awards in 2009. Jessica Fuccello was an All-Star in the program's inaugural year, while current sophomore Kerry Scalora was last year's ECAC Rookie of the Year. Lerner -- who also received first-team All-Ivy and second-team NSCAA All-Region honors this year -- started all 17 matches on the back line and was a key component of a defense that posted a school-record 13 shutouts and allowed just seven goals in 17 matches. One of the Quakers' three captains this year, Lerner led Penn to a 14-2-1 overall record, a school-record 13 shutouts, and a 5-1-1 Ivy League record that put the Red and Blue second behind Harvard in the conference standings. |
