PHILADELPHIA - The Ivy League has announced its weekly awards for women's soccer, and Penn freshman Erin Mikolai was named the co-Ivy League Rookie of the Week along with Dartmouth's Corey Delaney.
This is the first such honor for the Quaker freshman, who scored the game-winning goal early in the second overtime on Sunday afternoon at Sacramento State. Her classmate, Elissa Berdini, was named to the Ivy League honor roll for her three-point performance (1g, 1a) in Sunday's victory.
Penn is 3-3-0 overall this season and will host Harvard on Friday at 5 p.m. in the Ivy League opener for both teams. The match pits the two teams that have won the last three Ivy titles (Harvard in 2009 and 2011, Penn in 2010) and finished 1-2 in the league last year. On Sunday, the Quakers host Boise State at noon.
