PHILADELPHIA -Four members of the University of Pennsylvania men's and women's track and field teams - Gabrielle Piper, Karl Ingram, Maalik Reynolds and Conner Paez - will all participate in the USA Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., June 23-25.
Ingram is the only one of the four freshmen that will compete on Thursday. The javelin starts at 12:30 p.m., on the first day of competition.
Piper and Reynolds will take part in their respective events on Friday. Reynolds is in the high jump which is set for a noon start and Piper is in the first round of the 100-meter hurdles at 12:15 p.m. If Piper advances, she will then compete in the finals of the event at 2:15 p.m.
On Saturday, Paez will run at 8:30 p.m., in the 5,000 meters.
The USA Junior Outdoor Championships serve as the selection meet for the 2011 Pan-American Junior Athletics Championships, July 22-24, in Miramar, Fla. The top two finishers in each event in Eugene will be invited to compete as members of Team USA.
