PHILADLEPHIA - While Penn saw some of its top wrestlers suffer losses in the dual against No. 1 Cornell last Friday, those losses did not do much damage to the national rankings of Penn's grapplers. The pollsters around the country do a good job of not penalizing wrestlers for taking on stiff challenges and losing to wrestlers inside the Top 10 is not something which should send a ranking spiraling down.

In addition to the usual weekly polls, the NCAA released a new Coaches Panel and the first RPI of the season. These two lists are big factors when automatic qualifying spots are assigned to a conference, so both are included here to show which Penn wrestlers are close to securing a bid to be obtained at the EIWA Championships in March.

NCAA Coaches Panel (Feb. 11)

Individual Rankings (Rankings go to No. 33)
125 - No. 15 Mark Rappo Last Ranking: No. 17
133 - No. 5 Rollie Peterkin Last Ranking: No. 4
141 - No. 9 Zack Kemmerer Last Ranking: No. 9
165 - No. 18 Gabriel Burak Last Ranking: No. 18
174 - No. 22 Scott Giffin Last Ranking: No. 26
197 - No. 4 Micah Burak Last Ranking: No. 6
285 - No. 33 Kyle Cowan Last Ranking: NR

Notes: Four Penn wrestlers moved up in these polls which were released before Penn's two matches in New York last weekend...Mark Rappo has been the busiest of the group in terms of matches inside the Top 33, with an 8-5 record in 13 bouts against ranked wrestlers...Rollie Peterkin is 5-2 against Top 33 wrestlers...Zack Kemmerer has had 12 matches inside the Top 33 with a 7-5 record...At 165, Gabriel Burak is 2-3 in five bouts inside the Top 33...Scott Giffin is up to No. 22 with a 1-5 record inside the Top 33, but with four losses inside the Top 16...Micah Burak is 7-4 inside the Top 33 and 7-2 when not wrestling No. 1 Cam Simaz...Freshman Kyle Cowan is 2-3 at heavyweight with a win over No. 16 Josh Wine of VMI.

NCAA RPI (Feb. 11)

Individual Rankings (Rankings go to No. 33)

133 - No. 7 Rollie Peterkin
141 - No. 5 Zack Kemmerer
165 - No. 10 Gabriel Burak
197 - No. 6 Micah Burak

Notes: For a wrestler to be counted in the RPI, he must have 17 matches at his weight class, thus Scott Giffin is currently not included with only 12 matches at 174 pounds...If he was included, Penn would likely have six wrestlers listed and all six would have earned an NCAA bid for the EIWA.

EIWA Rankings (Jan. 26)
