PHILADELPHIA - The Ivy League has announced its weekly award winners in men's lacrosse, and Penn senior midfielder John Conneely has been named the Ivy League Player of the Week.
Conneely's honor comes on the heels of his performances last week, when the Quakers knocked off No. 8 North Carolina, 10-6, and followed up with a heartbreaking, 8-7 loss to No. 12 Villanova.
Conneely had two goals and two assists in Penn's win over UNC, including a goal and an assist during a three-goal run that pushed the Quakers' 6-5 lead to 9-5. On Saturday, he scored a goal and added two assists to tie for team-high honors with three points in the loss to the Wildcats.
Penn opens Ivy League play this weekend, traveling to Princeton to face the Tigers on Saturday. The teams will face off at 2 p.m., and the game will be televised live on ESPNU.
