PHILADELPHIA - The Tewaaraton Foundation has announced the 2014 Tewaaraton Award men's and women's watch lists presented by Panama Jack, and among those being named were two seniors on the University of Pennsylvania men's lacrosse team, goalkeeper Brian Feeney and midfielder Zack Losco.
Feeney and Losco are two of eight Ivy Leaguers on the list of 52 men's players on the Tewaaraton list; there are also two players each from Cornell, Princeton and Yale. Both Penn players were first-team All-Ivy selections a year ago, and received honorable mention All-America from the Inside Lacrosse Face-Off Yearbook in the preseason. So far this season, Losco leads Penn with six points (3g, 3a) while Feeney has played every minute in goal with a 6.50 goals-against average and a .594 save percentage.
The Tewaaraton Award watch lists include the top men's and women's players across all three divisions of NCAA lacrosse and highlight the early contenders for the 2014 Tewaaraton Award, which will be presented on May 29 in Washington, D.C.
Additions to the list will be announced on March 20 and April 10. On April 24, the field will be narrowed to 25 men's and 25 women's nominees. Five men's and five women's finalists will be announced on May 8 and will be invited to D.C. for the presentation ceremony.
Penn, which is 1-1 on the young season and ranked 20th in this week's USILA national coaches poll, is in action this weekend hosting No. 6 Denver at Franklin Field. The Quakers and the Pioneers will face off Saturday at 1 p.m.
