PHILADELPHIA – A pair of University of Pennsylvania men’s lacrosse seniors, goalie Brian Feeney and midfielder Drew Belinsky, have been selected to play in the USILA’s Division I/II North-South Game. The annual all-star game will take place Monday at 10 a.m. at M&T Stadium in Baltimore, the site of this year’s NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship Weekend.
Both players will play for the South team in Monday’s game.
Feeney enjoyed another stellar campaign between the pipes for the Quakers, earning first-team All-Ivy for the second straight year. He ended the regular season leading the Ivy League and 14th nationally in save percentage (.552); was 11th nationally in saves per game (11.08); and ranked 17th nationally in goals-against average (9.00).
Belinsky finished the 2014 season with 15 goals and 12 assists for 27 points, tied for third on the team. He ended his career with five straight multi-point games -- he had nine such games on the season -- including a goal and an assist in the Quakers’ NCAA Championship first-round loss to Drexel. The senior midfielder also had six caused turnovers and 19 ground balls.
Penn finished the season with an 11-4 record, its best mark since 1988, and also hosted an NCAA Championship game for the first time since 1988. After posting a 4-2 Ivy League mark during the regular season, the Quakers won the Ivy League Tournament in early May, defeating Cornell and Harvard. Prior to its NCAA first-round loss to Drexel, Penn won eight games in a row which is tied for the second-longest win streak in program history.
