PHILADELPHIA – The brand new, state-of-the-art Nalitt Family Gymnastics Center was unveiled and dedicated Saturday afternoon inside the newly renovated Hutchinson Gymnasium on the University of Pennsylvania campus.

The new center, which features four balance beams, two vaulting runways, three sets of uneven bars, a trench-channel single bar, floor exercise, loose foam training pits, in-ground rezi pits, and a tumbling strip gives the Quakers gymnastics program a training facility that rivals any of the nation’s top programs.

The facility is possible as the result of a generous gift from former Penn gymnast Beth Nalitt, MD. Dr. Nalitt and her family, along with athletic director Steve Bilsky and close to 150 alumnae, family and friends were on hand Saturday afternoon for the dedication ceremony.

Head coach John Ceralde described Dr. Nalitt’s reaction to the new facility as “very excited, impressed and humbled.”

“The event was very successful,” Ceralde said. “Every person that approached me was very happy. They all expressed how proud they were to be a part of Penn gymnastics.”

Immediately following the dedication ceremony, members of the 2013 team were presented their Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) championship rings. The team was honored earlier in the day during halftime at the Homecoming football game against Princeton at Franklin Field.

Penn has won back-to-back ECAC championships, along with winning the Ivy Classic title in 2012.
