PHILADELPHIA - After receiving the highest All-Around score in the ECAC this past week against Towson, Dana Bonincontri has been named ECAC Gymnast of the Week for the third time this season. She previously won the award in consecutive weeks at the beginning of February. Against the six-time defending ECAC Champions, Bonincontri finished the meet with an All-Around score of 38.475, which bested the second-highest score in the conference by .05 points.
Bonincontri used a very consistent performance in all four events to earn the weekly award, scoring at least a 9.5 in every event. She also had the team-high score in three of the four events on the day, including the Vault, Uneven Bars, and Balance Beam.
Bonincontri received her highest individual score on the Balance Beam where she posted a 9.7 to finish second overall for the meet. Balance Beam has been a strength of hers all season long, as she is currently ranked fifth in the ECAC in this event. The Quaker sophomore also finished in a first-place tie with fellow classmate Kirsten Strausbaugh on the uneven bars, scoring a 9.675.
On the vault, Bonincontri used a score of 9.6 to finish that particular event in fourth place for the meet. She finished off her day with another steady performance on the Floor Exercise, scoring 9.5.
Bonincontri and the rest of her teammates will have one final home meet on the season before the teams gears up for the postseason. The Quaker's final home meet will be this Sunday, March 13 at 2 p.m. in Hutchinson Gymnasium. This will be a quad-meet where Penn invites California, Temple and Southern Connecticut into its home gym. Following this final home competition, the Quakers will then head to the ECAC Championships in Providence the following weekend.
