PHILADELPHIA--The Penn gymnastics program was honored with the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) Scholastic All-American team award for achieving a 3.0 grade-point average or higher over the last academic year.
Additionally, five Penn gymnasts have been named NACGC/W Scholastic All-Americans for the 2011-12 season. To qualify for NACGC Scholastic All-American standing, an individual must post a 3.5 or higher grade-point average for the year. Laura DiPaolo, Rebecca Engberg, Carilyn Hayes, Kristen Hughes and Megan Milavec all represent Penn on the list of honorees. Out of the 471 women named to the list, Hayes was one of 60 to achieve a perfect 4.0 GPA.
Milavec, a first-team United States of America Gymnastics (USAG) All-America in the all-around and second-team All-ECAC on the uneven bars in 2011-12, and Hughes, a team captain, return to the squad for the 2012-13 season.
These awards add to the historic 2011-12 campaign for Penn gymnastics that also saw the Quakers win the Ivy classic and ECAC championships as well as place third at USAG Nationals.
