PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania gymnastics program has announced its schedule for the 2012-13 season. The Quakers will begin action on Sunday, Jan. 13 and gear up toward defense of their Ivy Classic and ECAC Championships team titles from a year ago.
With the renovation of Hutchinson Gymnasium taking place throughout the season, Penn will be home just two times in 2012-13; both of those meets will take place in The Palestra.
"The team is looking forward to another successful season this year," said Head Coach John Ceralde. "They are focused and ready to prepare because this group knows there are so many opportunities for them to achieve their best. "
The Ivy Classic takes place on Saturday, Feb. 23 this year in New Haven, Conn. Exactly one month later, on Saturday, March 23, the ECAC Championships will be held at Cornell University.
The Quakers will begin the season at the George Washington Invitational on Sunday, Jan. 13, and then the next weekend they are at Rutgers for a quad-meet with the Scarlet Knights, Bridgeport and Ursinus.
Penn will face Yale in a dual meet on Saturday, Jan. 26, and then is at Ball State the next Friday and West Chester on Saturday, Feb. 9. Penn's first home meet takes place Sunday, Feb. 17 against Bridgeport, starting at 1 p.m.
Penn hosts Ursinus on Sunday, March 3, and then the next Saturday the Quakers are in State College to face Penn State, New Hampshire and Temple. Penn's final regular-season meet will take place the week before the ECAC Championships at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C.
