PHILADELPHIA -  The Penn women's swimming team righted the ship after two disappointing losses last time out, winning 10 of the first 12 events on Friday evening to leave little doubt in a 163-134 win over West Chester. Jenny Claydon and Shelby Fortin both won two events for the Quakers on the night.

After getting the night off to a successful start with a first place finish in the 200 Medley Relay, Julie Anderson continued Penn's assault on WCU with a nearly 12-second victory in the 1000 Freestyle (10:24.73). Claydon followed that with the first of her two wins on the evening, touching the wall in 1:54.62 to claim the 200 Freestyle. Blair Webb came in second, finishing in 1:55.74.

Competing in the 100 Backstroke for the first time this season, Fortin still managed to be the best in the pool, outkicking West Chester's Megan Winslow to the wall in 58.10, ahead of Winslow's 58.83. Laura Klick joined the proceedings in the 100 Breaststroke and was victorious with a time of 1:06.42.

A pair of freshmen, Taylor Sneed and Irene Katopodis, grabbed the next two events. Sneed blew past everyone in the 200 Butterfly, finishing in 2:07.07, over two seconds ahead of second place and seven seconds ahead of third. Katopodis won the 50 Freestyle, sprinting in ahead of teammates Lauryn Brown and Clarissa Palmer with a time of 24.81. The trio took the top three spots in the race.

Claydon put a cap on her night with a time of 53.69 in the 100 Freestyle, nudging past Katopodis, who finished second in 54.20. Fortin followed her with a dominating performance in the 200 Backstroke, coming in nearly five seconds clear of her closest competitor. Webb closed out the evening by winning the 500 Freestyle in 5:07.83. Assured of the win, Penn swam only exhibitions the rest of the way.

The Quakers return home next Saturday at 12 noon for a tri-meet with UMBC and La Salle. This meet will serve as Senior Day for the women's team.
