Ithaca, N.Y. - The Quakers won four events and earned a split at Cornell, beating the Big Red but falling to defending Ivy champion Princeton on Saturday afternoon

Penn took down Cornell 156-144 but lost to Princeton 171.50-120.50 as the team moved to 2-1 overall. Freshman Shelby Fortin had the Quakers first victory of the day, touching first in the 200-yard freestyle, in 152.41and beating Ming Ong of Princeton by just .41 seconds. Fortin also took third in the 100-yard free (52.86) and fourth in the 50, finishing in 24.50.

Junior Laura Klick also earned a first place finish, taking the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:05.65. Klick also finished second in the 200 with a time of 2:25.68 and took fourth in the 200-yard I.M (2:11.45).

Sophomore Melissa Parratto won the 200-yard I.M. in 2:09.59, while freshman Katherine Ashenfelter placed third in 2:10.53 and Klick came in fourth. Parratto also took second in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing in 58.58. Freshman Kristi Edleson also swam well, taking second in the 1,000-yard free and also coming in third in the 500-yard free.

Penn's final victory of the afternoon came in the 400-yard free relay, where the quartet of senior Naomi Delphin, senior Meghan Barron, junior Jenny Claydon and Fortin too first with a time of 3:32.42.

The Red and Blue return to the pool when the team travels to swim at the Kenyon Invitational, Dec. 2-4.
