Kenyon, Ohio - The Quakers lead after the first two events on Thursday at the Total Performance Invitational at Kenyon College after winning one event and finishing second in the other.
In the 800-yard free relay, the Quakers' 'A' relay took second to Davidson, as the quartet of senior Naomi Delphin, sophomore Blair Webb and freshmen Kristi Edleson and Shelby Fortin finished in 7:32.89.
The Red and Blue dominated the only other event of the evening, taking the top four spots of the 1,650-yard freestyle and six of the top ten overall. Edleson touched first with a time of 16:50.20, just two seconds off the school record. She was followed by Fortin (16:51.96), Delphin (17:00.71) and freshman Julia Anderson (17:01.97). First-year Michelle Hogan (17:20.05) in ninth and Sarah Ernst (17:28.46) in tenth rounded out the top ten.
The Quakers finished the day with 200 points, more than double second place Kenyon (91). Penn goes back to the pool Friday morning for day two of the three-day meet.
