Kenyon, Ohio - The Quakers won the Total Performance at Kenyon for the second straight year on Saturday, getting strong performances on the final day of action to hold off host Kenyon.
Penn won the event with 1,433 total points while host Kenyon finished close behind in second with 1,314. Colgate was a distant third with 704.5 points.
On the final day of swimming the Red and Blue captured four top-two finishes and three third place finishes. Freshman Shelby Fortin earned Penn's only first place finishes on the day, winning the 500-yard free in 4:52.02 and also touching first in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:02.48. In her other individual event of the day, Fortin took second in the 100-yard free, finishing in 51.02.
The Quakers' other second place finish came from first-year Kristi Edleson, who touched right after Fortin in the 500 free (4:58.69). Fellow classmate Katherine Ashenfelter recorded a fourth place finish in the 200 back with a time of 2:06.02 and also took fifth in the 200-yard I.M.
Junior Laura Klick was Penn's top finisher in the 200 I.M. taking third in 2:08.23. She also finished fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke, two spots behind senior Kelby Zimmerman who touched in 2:21.17.
The Red and Blue return to action on Friday when the team hosts Columbia at 4 p.m.
