PHILADELPHIA – Break out the winter hats.

The University of Pennsylvania baseball team, working with the Vs. Cancer Foundation, raised nearly $10,000 in their efforts to raise money for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and national childhood cancer research.

The team gathered in their locker room Saturday to shave their heads to fulfill its part in the raising of the funds that will go towards the fight against childhood cancer. Almost 20 players participated, receiving haircuts that will leave them reaching for winter hats until their hair grows back, or the weather warms up.

“Our players really embraced the idea of helping out in the Philadelphia community and directing our funds towards CHOP,” said Head Coach John Yurkow.

“I want to thank everyone who donated to help fight childhood cancer.”
