WASHED OUT: Penn has played one game, versus Villanova, in the past seven days due to wet weather in the Philadelphia area. The Quakers were supposed to host Lafayette in the opening game of the Liberty Bell Classic this past Tuesday until the game was pushed back to this week. The game scheduled for April 1 will now need to be moved again, due to the Ivy League opening weekend being pushed from Saturday and Sunday to Monday and Tuesday due to rain.

LAST TIME OUT AT VILLANOVA: Penn’s bats came alive against the Wildcats, where the Quakers totaled 18 hits, including eight extra base hits. Senior outfielder Rick Brebner collected three doubles on the afternoon, while driving in two runs. Junior Jeff McGarry totaled four hits, while also driving in two runs. Mike Vilardo and Matt McKinnon each had a triple in the game. On the mound, Jake Cousins picked up his first collegiate win, while Mitch Holtz, Stephen Silvestri and Pat Bet pitched well in relief.

AROUND THE IVY LEAGUE: To start the 2014 season, the eight Ivy League teams have a combined record of 44-79. Cornell has the most wins with eight, while Yale is second with seven. Cornell and Dartmouth are the only teams that were able to begin league play over the weekend splitting their series with the Big Red winning game one, 3-2, and falling in game two to the Big Green, 5-4 in 11 innings.
