PHILADELPHIA - Senior hurler Paul Cusick was named the Big 5 Pitcher of the Week for the third time in four weeks on Tuesday after tossing another complete-game victory for the Quakers.
Cusick went the full nine innings for the first time in his career and was sharp throughout as he gave up just four singles while allowing two unearned runs against Cornell on Sunday. The senior also matched a career high with 12 strikeouts as Penn finished with the 10-2 victory. It was his team-leading fifth victory of the season, setting a new career high, and also the 12th win of his career.
The righty now has 74 strikeouts on the season, the seventh highest single-season total in school history. He also moved into fourth place in school history with 194 strikeouts, just seven shy of Todd Roth for third all-time.
Penn returns to action on Friday when they travel to Columbia to play the Lions in a doubleheader beginning at noon.
