PHILADELPHIA – If they hadn’t needed a winter hat yet, they’ll certainly need one soon. The University of Pennsylvania baseball team members will be receiving substantial haircuts next Saturday, all for the purpose of raising money for cancer research.

The Quakers, working with the Vs. Cancer Foundation, will be shaving their heads to help raise proceeds for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and national childhood cancer research.

The team will gather in the baseball locker room in the Hollenback Center at 12 p.m. on Feb. 1 for the cutting of player’s hair. With just over a week to go before their heads become bare, the Quakers are over halfway to their goal of raising $10,000. To learn more about the baseball team’s efforts, or if you would like to make a contribution, you can visit http://penn.vs-cancer.org/.

The Vs. Cancer Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving children’s lives by empowering athletes and communities to fund lifesaving cancer efforts. The foundation was founded in 2012 and had 36 collegiate baseball programs participate in fundraising efforts in 2013. For more information on the Vs. Cancer Foundation, click here.
