Ivy League Week 11 Release

PRINCETON, N.J. – On Tuesday afternoon, the Ivy League announced the weekly softball honors. Making this week’s list is University of Pennsylvania softball players Alexis Borden and Alexis Sargent. Borden was named Pitcher of the Week, while Sargent was named Rookie of the Week.

Pitcher of the Week

Against Columbia, Borden posted three wins with one shutout. In the 17 innings pitched, the junior pitcher tossed 15 strikeouts and only allowed one earned run, for an ERA of 0.41.

In the bottom of the fourth in game one against Columbia, the Lions threatened to score with bases loaded but Borden put an end to Columbia’s chances with a strikeout.

Rookie of the Week

After going 1-for-13 in the Princeton series, Sargent finished this week’s five games -- against Monmouth and Columbia -- 7-for-9, with 3 home runs, 6 RBI, and a 1.778 slugging percentage. In three of the four games, Sargent hit a perfect 1.000.

In the 6-5 loss to Columbia, Sargent hit her third home run of the series and ninth of the season.

Also making the Ivy Honor Roll was senior tri-captain Elysse Gorney and freshman Leah Allen.

The Quakers will travel to Hanover on Friday to face Dartmouth in a doubleheader on Saturday for the second year in a row in the Ivy League Championship. If a third game is needed, the two teams will play on Sunday.
