SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Penn men's golf team spent spring break down in South Carolina and Georgia, and concluded the week by participating in the OMNI Financial Intercollegiate. The event was hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University at the par-72 Hunter Golf Club in Savannah.
Penn finished second at the nine-team event, scoring 308-317-307--932 to place behind Greensboro College (311-308-310--929). Those two finished far ahead of third-place Wittenberg (316-314-328--958).
Individually, junior Scotty Williams announced his return to the lineup by finishing as Penn's low scorer and second overall in the 65-player field. Williams -- who missed the fall season as he was studying abroad -- shot 75-78-75 to finish at 12-over-par 228, just two shots behind Ohio Wesleyan's Nate Fridley (74-75-77--226). A pleasant surprise for the Quakers was PJ Fielding, who tied for fourth overall with 78-79-74--231.
Marco Fortades tied for 24th overall (78-78-87--243), while Sam Williams tied for 30th (83-81-83--247). Kevin Huntington shot 86-82-81--249 to tie for 35th, while Philip Winter carded 88-82-82--252 and tied for 40th.
Penn has returned to campus, and will participate in the George Washington Invitational this Friday and Saturday.
